HCC to Offer Community Classes at Clarksville and Hopkinsville

Hopkinsville, Ky. (March 13, 2009) - Hopkinsville Community College is offering a series of AchieveGlobal workshops at the Workforce Essentials office in downtown Clarksville, TN in the upcoming months.  The series is designed to help managers, supervisors and leaders gain a competitive advantage in a changing economy and marketplace. 

Each workshop will meet from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on select weekdays and will be taught by Reese Bailey, a certified AchieveGlobal instructor who has completed the National Society for Human Resources Management PHR/SPHR certification course.

Workshop topics and dates are listed below.  Each workshop will be offered twice.  Pick one date to attend.

  • Navigating Change - Tuesday, March 31 or Thursday, April 2
  • Performance Expectations - Tuesday, April 21 or Thursday, April 23
  • Coaching for Optimal Performance - Tuesday, May 12 or Thursday, May 14
  • Developing Others - Tuesday, June 2 or Thursday, June 4
  • Addressing Emotions at Work - Tuesday, June 30 or Thursday, July 2
  • Resolving Conflicts with Peers - Tuesday, July 21 or Thursday, July 23

At Hopkinsville

In response to community requests, HCC will also offer two introductory computer "short courses" classes for people age 55 and older. These courses will be offered this spring at the Hopkinsville Campus. 

Introduction to the Internet for 55+ meets on three Saturdays, March 28-April 11, from 9 to 11 am.  Participants will find out how to set up a computer for internet access and then learn to search, select and bookmark websites.  Students will learn how to get an email account and as well as create, send and receive messages.  Some computer knowledge will be helpful in this hands-on class; however computer experience is not necessary.  The $59 registration fee includes a textbook.

Introduction to Computers for 55+ meets on three Saturdays, March 18-May 2, from 9 to 11 am.  In this class designed for beginning computer users, students will learn the basics of operating a computer.  Participants will learn how to use a mouse, browse a hard drive, and protect a computer from viruses.  Students will also learn to create, copy, delete, and locate files.  No previous computer experience is necessary.  The $59 registration fee includes a textbook.
