KCTCS 10th Anniversary Book Wins Louisville's Louie XXXV Gold Award

Versailles, Ky. - "Metamorphosis: The Kentucky Community and Technical College System 10th Anniversary 1998-2008," has received a Louie Gold Award  from the  Advertising Federation of Louisville's Louie XXXV, the 2008-2009 ADDY® Awards Competition.

The 120-page hardcover book won the Gold Addy(r) Award in the category of Color Annual Report with credits to Creative Alliance staff Andy Vucinich, executive creative director, and Greg Nehringm senior designer; Margaret Lane, KCTCS historian/writer; Glenda Whitledge and Maureen St. Vrain, Print Production; and Welch Printing, printer.

The Advertising Federation of Louisville (AdFed) has approximately 750 members and represents Louisville's $1 billion advertising industry. The American Advertising Federation has honored AdFed as "Club of the Year" in 1995, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2008.  The Louisville market competes with such top-tier markets as Cleveland, Houston, Minnesota, New York and Philadelphia.

Conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the local ADDY(r) Awards is the first of a three-tier, national competition.  Concurrently, all across the country, local entrants vie for recognition as the very best in their markets. At the second tier, local winners compete against other winners in one of 14 District competitions.

District winners are then forwarded to the third tier, the national ADDY(r) Awards competition. There were a total number of 55 Gold Awards and 181 Silver Awards this year. There were 692 entries and five judges from across the country.

The KCTCS 10th anniversary book includes a foreword by KCTCS President Michael B. McCall and includes the two-year transition process, KCTCS firsts, the Founding President's selection and inauguration, the system's mission, vision, plus 10 years of annual initiatives and successes.

Also included is the unique story of the KCTCS System Office facility, featuring the acquisition of the 50-year-old Texas Instrument manufacturing plant by the city of Versailles and the subsequent transformation into a modern, state-of-the-art facility that currently houses the KCTCS System Office staff members.

Sixty-four pages of the book is devoted to each of the 16 KCTCS colleges highlighting the early history prior to joining the KCTCS system, the record-making 10-year enrollment and credential growth, current leaders and presidents, and student success stories.

The books are dedicated to the heroes and heroines of this educational regeneration.  The anniversary books are available at all KCTCS college bookstores.
