OCTC Top Community College at Murray State Speech Tournament

The OCTC Speech Team started the New Year off in style winning 6 individual awards and a team Sweepstakes award while outperforming other 2 year schools competing at the Ruby Krider Speech Invitational at Murray State University, February 7, 2009.

Individual honors went to Alan Fulkerson and Jeremy Rogers.  Fulkerson, a Sophomore-Owensboro, earned the following: Communication Analysis-4th, Dramatic Interpretation-6th, Impromptu-5th, and Extemporaneous-6th. Jeremy Rogers, a Sophomore-Owensboro, earned finalist awards in two events, Poetry-finalist, and Dramatic Interpretation-4th

The team earned a 3rd place Team Sweepstakes award in the small entry division finishing ahead of several schools including Clemson University, Volunteer State Community College, and Rend Lake Junior College. The team will next compete as the host college, at the KFA State Speech and Debate Tournament on February 20-21, 2009 on the main campus of OCTC.
