SCC student Mira Spangler-Baker earns place in Miss Kentucky competition

Mira Spangler-Baker, and SCC student and one of SCC's Student Ambassadors won the Miss Berea Area contest Sunday, Feb. 1. This is an official preliminary of the Miss America Scholarship Pageant System. She is currently preparing to compete for the title of Miss Kentucky in July 2009.

Melissa Morrison, an SCC recruiter and the sponsor of the SCC Student Ambassadors, asked her about the interview portion of the contest.

Mira replied, "They asked me some doozies! Mostly about Obama, his cabinet, and the economy. I can honestly say, being a Student Ambassador has helped me so much with interviewing! It has helped me more than any coach in the world would. The director told me I had the highest interview score (which I was VERY surprised), but I instantly replied I have had the most experience from being a Student Ambassador at SCC. I told them the Ambassador program has helped me and the other 11 Ambassadors develop skills that we will use for a lifetime! "

"I have not had the highest interview scores until after I started the Ambassador program. It has taught all of us as Ambassadors how to be well-prepared and confident for any interview or presentation situation. That's ONE OF the reasons I would recommend this program to all students!" she added.
