BGTC Student selected to Leadership KCTCS and NewCitizen Kentucky

Bowling Green, Ky. - Bowling Green Technical College Culinary Arts student Tammy Inscoe has been selected to the Kentucky Community and Technical College (KCTCS) Student Leadership Academy.

Leadership KCTCS is a civic responsibility training and development program that provides students with shadowing experiences and other opportunities to participate in community activities, discussions, and planning. Students from each of the 16 colleges in KCTCS are selected to attend seminars and participate in community activities throughout the state that focus on the New Cities Institute's 12 Principles of Community Building.  These principles are divided into the four inter-related topics (People, Place, Perspective, and Prosperity) - each session is devoted to address one of these topics with local community leaders as presenters.

NewCitizen Kentucky is an initiative of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, the Kentucky League of Cities, and the NewCities Institute. The purpose of NewCitizen Kentucky is to build civic capacity I communities to enhance economic development and quality of life throughout the Commonwealth. One of the components of this is Leadership KCTCS.

In addition to being selected to these leadership groups, Ms. Inscoe is also a member of the National Technical Honor Society, an officer in the College's Student Government Association and on the Dean List at the College. Ms Inscoe is active in community and civic events through the Culinary Arts Program.

For most Kentuckians, higher education begins at KCTCS. Our statewide system of 16 colleges and 65 campuses provides citizens throughout the Commonwealth with a quality education that is both accessible and affordable.
