KCTCS president announces appointments

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 19, 2003) -- Michael B. McCall, president of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, has announced two appointments to provide leadership in student affairs and information technology in KCTCS.

Mary Abrams will serve in the Chancellor’s Office as director of transfer and student affairs.  She previously served as dean of student affairs at Jefferson Community College and as KCTCS senior system administrator for policy and procedures.

Abrams earned her bachelor’s degree in speech and drama from Eastern Kentucky University; her master’s in guidance and counseling from EKU; and her doctorate in clinical psychology from Spalding University. She is a lifelong resident of Louisville.

Also, McCall announced that Ruth McCleese will direct the implementation of the new KCTCS information technology system -- the PeopleSoft 8 student system, which will provide Internet-based registration, degree audit and advising, and continuing education.

McCleese formerly served as dean and faculty member at Central Kentucky Technical College in Lexington and as KCTCS senior system administrator for operations.

McCleese earned her bachelor's degree in business from Morehead State University and her master's in education from the University of Kentucky. She is pursuing her doctorate at the University of Kentucky. The Lexington resident formerly lived in Indian Creek in Lewis County.
